The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
The jist of the book: Carter and Sadie Kane make a comeback and this time, they have to fight to save the world. Apophis, the great Egyptian god of Chaos is only five days away from making a grand entourage by swallowing the sun and engulfing the world in entire darkness and chaos. Not that bad eh? The Kanes have only that time to find to find the 3 sections of the book of Ra, learn to chants its spells, awaken the forgotten sun god and hope he would be sane enough stand by them and defeat Apophis. Meh, no pressure.
Four Syllables: AH-MAY-ZI-ZIIIIING!
Riordan has literally blew my mind with this installment. It was thrilling, up beat, full of suspense and absolutely funny. In my opinion, more funnier than the first. If you want cliffhangers, this book has it in every chapter. You're basically asking yourself "Who the?!" and "What the?!" questions all the time. Despite the humorous and fictional setting, Riordan has done his best to, once again, educate readers about the myths, legends and history of Egypt. He carefully mastered the skill of merging fact and fiction and to be honest, it works for me! If the The Mummy and Harry Potter ever had a baby, this would be it. Hahaha! The Kane Chronicles is one of the best installments I've read in a while and I recommend it on all your must-read list.
